Dr Thomas I. Rowell, son of the late Mr Joseph Rowell, free merchant, has been appointed by Lord Carnarvon to one of the best medical offices at his disposal – vix, Principal Civil Medical Officer in the Straits Settlements. Dr Rowell is a native of Aberdeen and studied at Aberdeen and Edinburgh Universities.
